Valencia go head-to-head against Las Palmas on Monday. Read our Predictions and Betting Tips with Match Preview, Head-to-head stats (h2h) and Team Form Analysis.
Our prediction for this Primera Division match:
Valencia and Las Palmas square off against each other at Estadio de Mestalla in the closing match of La Liga round 10. Los Che have been struggling to find their best form, but Monday’s game could be the turning point for Ruben Baraja’s troops. The former Valencia midfielder shuffled his pack in a hybrid friendly against Mexico (2-2), but the 49-year-old is going to field the best possible side against La Union Deportiva. All Rafa Mir, Jesus Vazquez, Mouctar Diakhaby, and Jaume Domenech remain in the recovery room.
Las Palmas, on the other hand, failed to make life difficult for nine-man Celta Vigo before the international break, which is probably the main reason why home win should be considered. All Scott McKenna, Marvin Park, Mika Marmol, and Jasper Cillessen are injured for the visiting team, while Sandro Ramirez faces race against the clock to be fit for the match.
How the bookies view it: Valencia expected to get the job done
For a team that has only won one fixture in the top flight this season. Valencia’s odds-on quote of 7/10 by 777pub to win this match speaks volumes. Their one victory came on home turf, where they have lost only one of four played this term. Their opponents Las Palmas are finding life very tough in the top flight this season, highlighted by the fact the bottom-side are 4/1 outsiders against the team directly above them.
Valencia vs Las Palmas Match Preview
Valencia started off this season in an unimpressive manner but managed to better the run of late. They were unbeaten in three of the last four matches in the league. Their last home match was against Osasuna and the match ended in a goalless draw. They will hope to better their form and on Sunday, they will meet Las Palmas.
Meanwhile, Las Palmas also had an unimpressive start to this season and are yet to seal a win this season. Also, they will enter this match following a 0-1 defeat against Celta Vigo. Do also note that they leaked 12 goals in the last six league matches.
Moving on, Valencia can rely on the recent tradition since they were unbeaten in four of the six head-to-head meetings against Las Palmas. On top of that Valencia follows a three-match winning streak against Las Palmas at this venue and two of them saw the 1-0 scoreline.
Recent head-to-head: Los Che seek fourth straight home win
Valencia have won their last three home fixtures against Las Palmas, and each of those came with a clean sheet. That’s an option to size up for Monday’s fixture, with a Valencia To Win To Nil pick at 6/4 with WIN96. Interestingly as well, the last four meetings have all been won by the home team on the day so there is a definite trend. There hasn’t been an away victory in any of the last seven clashes.
Highlighted Team (Valencia):
Founded on March 18, 1919, Valencia FC are a Spanish football club that compete in La Liga. Los Che play their home games at Estadio de Mestalla, the stadium which was opened back in May, 1923. The capacity of the venue is 50,000. Seeing that bats are quite common in Valencia, it is no surprise they are nicknamed the Bats.
Valencia made it to the Champions League final on two occasions (2000, 2001), but they were beaten in the title games by Real Madrid and Bayern Munchen respectively. The Spanish club, though, did well to win the UEFA Cup title in the 2003/2004 season, with the team beating Marseille in the final of the competition.
A number of top-class footballers were part of the club in the past, with the likes of Pablo Aimar, Ruben Baraja, David Albelda, Santiago Canizares, John Carew and Gaizka Mendieta all playing for the Estadio de Mestalla outfit. Valencia main colors are white and black, whilst they often where orange jerseys and shorts when playing on the travels.
Players to watch:
Valencia, who have been struggling for goals, could have Hugo Druro back in the starting line-up after injury. He is their joint top-scorer this season, so he may be impactful for them as an extra pressure in a low-scoring scoring.
Midfielder Pepelu has good form with assists this season, especially at the Mestalla, where has produced at least one in all but two of his last six matches there, so is a good option to look at for a goal involvement.
Predicted Lineups
Valencia could be a little stronger with the potential return of Jose Gaya and Hugo Duro with Jesus Vazquez also available. Celta Vigo could be hampered by the loss of Sandro Ramirez, their joint top-scorer, through injury.
Valencia: Mamardashvili; Foulquier, Tarrega, Mosquera, Vazquez; Guilllamon, Pepelu; Canos, Guerra, Rioja; Duro
Las Palmas: Horkas; Viti, Suarez, McKenna, A. Munoz; Essugo, J. Munoz; Januzaj, Silva, Moleiro; McBurnie
Valencia vs Las Palmas Prediction
Valencia is having an impressive form at home of late. They are having a three-match unbeaten streak at home. Do also note that they were unbeaten in five of the last six home outings.
Meanwhile, Las Palmas have a disappointing form on the road as they follow a four-match losing streak at the moment. They have an unimpressive away form against Valencia in the h2h too. Since Valencia has an upper hand in all the above mentioned stats, we expect a win for them on Sunday against this Las Palmas side.
Additionally, three of the four league home matches of Valencia had goals under 2.5 ft. Since their recent h2h clashes had goals under 2.5 ft, we don’t expect this match to have over 2.5 goals. Since Valencia has not allowed goals in the last three home matches against Las Palmas, we expect a 1-0 win for the Valencia side.
